How To Install Latest xRecovery to Sony Ericsson Xperia X10

xRecovery is a custom Android recovery system for all variants of the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, including Xperia X10, Xperia X10 Mini, Xperia X10 Mini Pro and Xperia X10 HD. If you own one of these Xperia series devices and want to take it to the next level by being able to flash custom ROMs, take and restore full backups, manage partitions and wipe not just data but cache and Dalvik cache as well, read on for the instructions.

xRecovery is based on and very similar in functionality to ClockworkMod recovery but is meant for the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 series devices on which ClockworkMod recovery can’t be installed. To get an idea of all that you can do from this recovery, see our coverage of ClockworkMod recovery.

Requirements:

• Rooted Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 series device. See our Android rooting guide to root yours.
• Busybox installed. You can install the latest version from Android Market here.
• xRecovery v0.3 Installer App.

Procedure:

1. Download the xRecovery installer app to your computer and transfer it to your phone by connecting your phone to your PC via USB, mounting the SD card and copying the downloaded file to it.
2. Browse to the SD card using a file manager and tap on it to launch it.
3. Once it launches, simply tap ‘Install xRecovery’ and follow any on-screen instructions that you get.
4. Reboot your phone once the process has finished, in case it doesn’t reboot automatically.

You should now have xRecovery installed on your device. To boot into it, just press the back button a few times immediately after you see the white Sony Ericsson logo on the screen upon reboot. Once in xRecovery, use the volume buttons to navigate the options, the ‘Home’ button to select and the back button to go back to the previous menu at any stage.

How to change fonts of xperia x10

I know that this is kinda old now but I don't know why but I kept on skipping on this. Quick tut on changing fonts.

1)You will need Root : here

2)You will need to install TypeFresh and AndExplorer on your phone

3) Thanks to XperiaX10iuser for packaging this zipwith compatible fonts

4)Additional Fonts that work as well Babel Sans and Comfertaa. I am using Comfertaa easy to read and has no issues. The following is Comfertaa, every letter is changed even keyboard keys pretty cool,

5) Original X10 fonts. Just in case if you mess up.


Note
This is an important note to keep in mind. Not all fonts work properly on your device. The following will explain what I mean. Some fonts render certain letters and symbols as boxes. The following is my favorite font Sony Sketch = (.

IF you want to use your own font all you have to do is rename the regualar and the bold .ttf as DroidSans. For example if you download the Babel font in the folder you will find 2 files. BabelSans.ttf and BabelSans-Bold.ttf. You will have to rename them to DroidDans.ttf and DroidSans-Bold.ttf for the fonts to work. 

After you have got all your files ready and installed the 2 apps on your phone you can begin. 

1)In TypeFresh you can backup your original files by hitting menu then back up fonts. The fonts will be saved on your SD card/Fonts/. 

Now lets say that you want to use Comfertaa font. Extract the folder and place the folder onto SD card/Fonts.

Then in TypeFresh select on DroidSans.... and then open the Comfertaa folder and select the DroidSans.ttf file. Then select the DroidSan-Bold.... select the Comfertaa folder and select theDroidSans-Bold.ttf file. Now in the main TypeFresh screen you will see blue arrows beside the fonts that you have changed, make sure that they are all right. Now hit menu and apply fonts. You device will reboot. 

The reboot process will take some time so please do not panic. You phone will reboot and you will see your new font as well.

With a fully modded X10 with JIT and stuff it was kind of hard to notice the animations, my phone was that fast. So I downloaded Spare Parts then set the animation(s) to slow.

HTC Sense Custom ROM

Jerpelea has done it again, yesterday he posted a new thread where he has ported the HTC Bravo rom to the X10. This port is not fully complete, and there needs to be some work on the Wifi, Bluetooth, Vibration, and the Notification LED. There may be other problems as well, so this is not a everyday rom, yet. I would advise to keep a eye on this thread and try it out. Once a stable version is released I would try it out and I really want to try out the HTC weather widget. Yes, even thought Fancy Widgets is 95% identical, nothing beats the original lol.

How to Enable Dual Touch on EVERY app on 2.1 ROMS

So, I installed the latest DT kernel from SE in my X10 using this trick (Thanks Binary!!!). 

I am currently on stock SE ROM, 2.0.A.0.504, and I noticed that dual touch was not working on every app, but only on some third-party apps.

So, I did some research and found out how to enable it in every app that supports it! 

It is very easy!

FIRST FLASH THE LATEST KERNEL, AS DESCRIBED HERE!

And then...

[ROOT REQUIRED]

Step 1 (Optional, according to arkedk, thanks for pointing out!  However, I did it on my phone, it doesn't cause any trouble and I haven't personally tested this method without it)

• Using Root Explorer, navigate to /system, press the Mount R/W button, find build.prop, long press on it and select "Open in Text Editor".
• After the last entry, add the following lines:

ro.product.multi_touch_enabled=true
ro.product.max_num_touch=2

• Press Menu, then Save and Exit.
• Delete the build.pro.bak that was created (or move it to your sd card, if you want to keep a backup)

Step 2

• Download this file (rapidshare mirror) and, using Root Explorer, copy it to /etc/permissions. Then, long press on it, select Permissions and make sure that these options are checked: the whole first column and the first from the second. 

• Exit Root Explorer and reboot.

DONE!!!! Try it on Google Maps! 

How To: Push Chrome And Firefox Links To Android 2.2 Froyo

1. Firstly you should have Android 2.2 on your device. We haven’t really tested this on devices other than Nexus One, so it can not be confirmed whether this method can be applied on devices which carry rooted Android 2.2 Froyo.

2. Once you have upgraded your device to Android 2.2 Froyo, now is the time to download official GoogleChrome to phone extension.

3. Before downloading this app, make sure that settings>Applications> Unknown Sources is marked as check.

4. After this you will need to have the latest version of chrome and/or Firefox. You can get them here andhere.

5. After you have acquired the latest version of Chrome or Firefox, log onto your Google Account from yoru selected browser.

4. Now start the Chrome to Phone App on your Android 2.2 Froyo Phone.

6. Fill in the details for the Google account you want the push access too.

7. Now press the Register Device tab to create a link between your account and the Google Chrome toPhone services.

8. To test if you have correctly installed the application, log on to your browser and type any complete link. now click the new icon in your browser that says “ beam to phone”.

9. After you have clicked the icon, check your Chrome to phone App and you will be able to see the link with title listed in there

TabCloud – Save Tabs In Firefox / Chrome, Sync With Android Phone

You must be familiar with Session Manager, an extension which allows saving of current sessions to be opened for later use. TabCloud is a Firefox and Chrome extension that not only saves sessions, but also allows synchronizing them with your Android phone with its Android app. To use this extension, a Google account is required. On one end this might appear to be a setback for people who do not have a Google account, however, this is meant to ensures security of the saved data and its synchronization.

After installing the TabCloud extension for Firefox or Chrome, you can login with your Google account and access it from the TabCloud icon next to the Address Bar. Clicking on this icon allows saving the current session (floppy icon), deleting a saved session (red minus icon) and opening a stored session (by clicking on the name of the saved session). When saving sessions, users are given the choice to add a name for easy identification. The saved sessions also have favicons, which makes it easy for the user to identify what websites are saved in a particular. The developers have ensured that other than the current Android app, they will also be providing sync support for iPhone in near future.
